Magical Towns

Take a weekend trip to some of the nearby Magical Towns such as Mascota, Tapalpa or Mazamitla.

San Sebastián del Oeste is another popular destination in the vicinity of Vallarta. Tucked away in the Sierra Madre mountains, it has fresh mountain air and beautifully preserved architecture that will make you feel like you've stepped back in time. Tour their estates and learn about the rich mining history, the cultivation of coffee and walk to the impressive viewpoint of La Bufa, located high in the clouds.

Nightlife

Nayarit to the North

Cross the state border of Jalisco to the north to discover the Riviera Nayarit, a corridor that extends through Banderas Bay in the State of Nayarit and that has grown rapidly in recent years.

Be sure to visit luxury destinations such as Nuevo Vallarta, Bucerías, La Cruz de Huanacaxtle and Punta Mita (known for its high-end real estate and iconic golf courses). Discover soft sandy beaches, world cuisine and all kinds of shopping, from street vendors to haute couture.

Drive further north for about 45 minutes and you'll arrive at the surf town of Sayulita. Sayulita is known worldwide as the hippie-chic destination with a relaxed atmosphere and big waves all day long. Passing Sayulita are San Pancho, Rincón de Guayabitos and Lode Marcos, other beach towns with incredible natural landscapes.

The World's Aquarium

The Sea of Cortez that bathes the beaches of Los Cabos has an extensive and surprising marine life. In fact, the famous French explorer, Jacques Cousteau, called it the “aquarium of the world”.

Of course, snorkeling or diving in its waters is a must, as you can observe the diverse marine fauna that lives here. Cabo Pulmo, located in Cabo del Este, has one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world! It is a national treasure that is protected by the federal government.

From December to March, whales of different species join the party in the Sea of Cortez, as they come to give birth and care for their young during the winter. So in that season you can watch whales jumping in the sea. It's an incredible show.

Charming nearby towns

Less than an hour away is Todos Santos, a picturesque artistic town that is one of the favorite day trips from Los Cabos. This place is also famous because, according to popular belief, the Hotel California located here is what the legendary song from the 70s by the American band Eagles refers to.

One hour from Todos Santos, and two from Los Cabos, is La Paz, the capital city of Baja California Sur and home to some of the most beautiful beaches you'll find anywhere in the world.

Mayan Heritage and Culture
